McD's Happy Meal

Dh said yesterday that ordering McD's Happy Meal that comes with a free toy was a hard decision to make since only one toy is available, and the attendant asked to choose from Polly Pocket (for girls) and a robot (for boys).

"Boleh beli toy lagi satu tu tak?"
"Boleh-boleh"

So he grabbed both toys for the kids (and to ensure both of them do not have to fight for the toys). The kids were happy (Ibu, tolong buka ibu!) and slept with the toys, and told their grandfather, "Tok ayah, Amin ada mainan", "Tok Ayah, akak ada doll".

Ops, last Thursday, I had a long delayed meeting till 6.30 p.m. After Asar prayer, I had to call the nursery and told them that we will fetch both kids after Maghrib. My sister fetch the kids and she said that Amin was crying and sobbed "E-ebu" because he thinks we have gone for our Hajj again.

On supplications to Allah

I did asked yesterday about his do'as being answered by Allah.

He mentioned that most of his do'as at Tanah Haram had been answered, and one of it was "Abang doakan anak-anak kita cerdik."

Amazing how it was answered.

Something good happens. But I do not hope much on it.. I just supplicate to Allah about 'melapangkan segala urusan seharian' daily in Masjidil Haram.

It was nice to know Allah answered your prayers. And even though, sometimes he takes a long time to answer it..

Rupa-rupanya Allah hendak memberikan kita pelangi..

Potty trained

Ibu: Amin pergi potong rambut dengan abah ye?
Amin : [angguk]
Ibu: Amin nangis ye masa potong rambut?
Amin : [angguk]
Ibu: Abah bagi gula-gula tak?
Amin : [angguk]

Confused. After our hajj trip, he called himself Amin and not Fawwaz anymore. It seemed more suitable for him, I suppose, to be tamed with the name. The problem is, even the nursery and our parents called him Fawwaz, but he insisted to be called Amin. ("Akak, Fawwaz dah cerdik ye sekarang" the nursery teacher told me yesterday.)

Yes, he did talked like a bullet train nowadays. I am amazed he gathered so many vocabs during his 2 y.o. untalkativeness.

As for Amni, she had been potty trained nearly 2 weeks. Memanglah ada terkucil, hari-hari pula tu, but I think this is normal, still adapting to new changes. And most important, we saved a lot on diapers money.

Next on the list would be Fawwaz Amin. He had been telling us, "Nak kencing" and he did answered his nature's call inside the bathroom!

Cerita haji lagi

Kalau tanya rata-rata orang, semua takut hendak pergi haji.
Sebabnya?
Insya Allah, saya masih saya."

Cerita haji kami senang sahaja, alhamdulillah.
Ketika berkejar ke pejabat TH, masih lagi dalam status 'standby', hati tak keruan, ya Allah. Siang malam berdoa dapatlah pergi haji tahun 2006.

Seronoknya hendak pergi!

Bila kita berniat untuk melakukan haji, Allah permudahkan segalanya. Sungguh tak disangka. Memang sangat mudah segala persiapan, sehingga keberangkatan dan kerja haji. Ketika berangkat dulu, rasa macam hendak menangis mengorek duit simpanan.

Rupanya, semasa kerja haji, paling lama kita berihram pun hanyalah 3 hari. Lepas tahalul awal, hanya perlu jaga 3 lagi pantang larang. Tapi pantang larang yang lain sudah terlepas.

Sampai di sana, sudah tidak terfikir apa-apa. Ketika ternampak Kaabah, suami terus sujud syukur, saya pula hampir menangis.

Simply put, seperti yang pakcik itu katakan "You will appreciate more when you save your own money to go for Hajj."

Oh semalam, kawan sebilik saya telefon. DO (Dapur Officer) tidak ternama.

My heart yearns

I have been in Malaysia for one week, but my heart still yearns to be there back.
I am still the old me, Insya Allah, with much better improvement.

Ater being Internet-less and TV-less for nearly 2 months, writing in this blog seemed weird, somehow. I am still feeling shocked upon Fawwaz's talkativeness and how big both kids had grown.

I missed my family, but I missed Makkah and Madinah.
I missed the whole spiritual journey of Hajj.

Hajj 1427H: the journey

The flight touched down KLIA on 11th January 2007 at 12.20 a.m. We were greeted by the kids on 7.00 a.m. Amni was asking for her dad, and Fawwaz cried when he get the shock of his life. The-man-of-the-house shaved his head :). I had to console the boy for 10 minutes before he stopped crying.

And yes, since everyday we supplicate to Allah (in front of the Kaabah) about the kids being diaper free (yes, I prayed daily for it!). I started teaching Amni on Sunday and yesterday, she did not wear her diapers anymore! Except for a few incidents.. uh-oh, that is still manageable :). So she got a kiss from me yesterday before she went to sleep.

As for Fawwaz, he had been talking non-stop, and I did asked dh whether he did supplicate to Allah about Fawwaz being talkative ("Abang ada doa ke supaya Fawwaz banyak cakap?").

Ok dears, since the ramblings about the kids seemed to be non stop, so here are a few pics, to share with you guys about our Hajj journey.

masjid nabawi

Masjid Nabawi, with all its glory. We were there for 8 days. Madinah's development had been massive since the last time I went to umrah in 2003. The landscape had undergone key reconstruction with 5-stars hotels all around it. The weather is cold, with temperature between 10-20 degree Celcius. And yes, I had to wear sweater during Subuh prayer. Rasa macam pergi European countries pula :P

masjidil haram

Masjidil Haram, which housed the Kaabah (pic was taken in the morning). We were there for 40+ days. The weather is dry, I had coughing fits and colds. The building on the right is a hotel (Dar Al-Tawhid) and another building which is under construction is ZamZam Tower.

wukuf di arafah

Friday, 29 December 2006: At Arafah, during wukuf. The Saudi government informed through news that the Hajj this year would be special. It is Haji Akbar (which occured once in 10 years only, for the wukuf day falls on Friday). 3 millions people went for Hajj this year, not the usual 2 millions.

jamrah

Sunday, 31 December 2006: At Mina (the 3-day city in a year) on the 2nd day of jamrah stoning. The government had approved a 5-floor plan for the stoning of the jamrah. During the Hajj, only 2 floors finished construction, yet there is no incident reported during the stoning. The construction company (a Malaysian based co.) proposed a one way route to enter and exit the jamrah.

jamrah 2

Monday, 1 January 2007: How easy it was to do the stoning, we even managed to snap a picture of one of the three jamrahs during our last day in Mina.

tawaf

Monday, 8 January 2007: The second last day before we leave for Jeddah. We managed to snap a picture of the Muslims performing the tawaf at night (camera is a no-no inside the mosque). I went there to do tawaf sunat with dh, but realising how big the crowd was, we decided to iktikaf inside the mosque. The crowd during our tawaf wida' (on the next morning) counted 3/4 from the pic shown above.

Luckily, our bus from Arafah went to Mina, but it could not stop there. We entered Makkah and performed our tawaf and sa'ie haji for our tahalul awal (You can either choose to do tawaf, saie and bergunting / stoning at Jamrah Aqabah and bergunting for tahalul awal). Alhamdulillah, the crowd was not that massive at that time. We did our tawaf on the 1st floor and sa'ie on the rooftop of the mosque.

Alhamdulillah, it was easy performing the pilgrimage. And please, go there to perform your Hajj when you were young :)
