Carpal tunnel syndrome?

What is a carpal tunnel?

In the human wrist there is a sheath of tough connective tissue (the flexor retinaculum) which envelops and protects several structures. The carpal tunnel is the space between this sheath (above) and the bones (below) making up the wrist and hand (carpal bones).

Definition of carpal tunnel syndrome:

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), or median neuropathy at the wrist, is a medical condition in which the median nerve is compressed at the wrist, leading to paresthesias, numbness and muscle weakness in the hand. The diagnosis of CTS is often misapplied to patients who have activity-related arm pain.
Most cases of CTS are idiopathic (without known cause), genetic factors determine most of the risk, and the role of arm use and other environmental factors is disputed.

After more than 10 years using the computer, my right wrist ached badly (I was exposed to computers at quite an early age, thanks to my dad). I have been using the mouse with my left hand for nearly 2 months. When I try to use my right hand, it will hurt considerably after 2-3 minutes. So I just stopped using my right hand for mouse clicking purpose.

When my BIL (who is a doctor-to-be) come to our house for his forensic training (oh yes, it is actually like CSI but more towards post partum death), I asked him about it. And he did confirmed. He did teach me how to exercise my wrist to lessen the pain.

Dh provided me with a gel mouse pad that he bought yesterday (cost: RM 15), and I have to use it to free my wrist from the ache from the shoulder and wrist after a considerable long time use of the mouse.

There's a free mirror!

Mynie tagged me about my workplace. So here goes, Aini has never seen it before. We worked in different buildings. Of course, my workplace looked like a manager's, since there are only a few executives at State level.

Notice the supplements near my CPU? Yes, I took some milk supplements for my milk supply, plus Omega 3 Fish Oil. I have a printer of my own, hidden by the chair. Placed 2 birthday cards; one from my husband, the other from Aini. My white board holds the cards by the kids, which I received in 2006, in Makkah, during the hajj season.

I have a free mirror! Well, it is to divide my workplace with the GM (yes, behind the mirror, is our GM's office. Fancy that, hah! My place is next to the GM :P) The mirror provided to be useful when I had bad tudung days. In front of me is an orange divider and behind me is a book rack (both are not in the pictures).

No, don't ask me the total renovation cost. My boss had a penchant for IKEA furnitures.

I wanna tag Erleyna, Ummi Ina & Ummimon.. just curious :)

What we did last Sunday

Date: 16 November 2008
Time: 12.30 p.m. onwards
Venue: Our house
Event: Amni & Fawwaz's birthday celebration
Menu: Lontong by my mom, chicken rice by moi/hubby
Guests: Our extended family + kak Tini's

Nearly 50 guests come to our house. Prepared a party pack. Served a delicious Choc Chip Cheese Cake (Thanks Farra!). Nasi ayam and lontong was a hit! Kak Tini, thanks for the delicious pudding (err.. I am ordering the instant mix pudding).

Anyhow, long time no update since my hubby had a VERY high fever till Wednesday (last resort, doc to inject him). Semalam, baru berselera dia makan nasi (He did confide in me, selalu dok doa nak kurus.. sekali Allah makbulkan tak lalu makan 3 hari 3 malam). Fahri also was on fever and had rashes.

Hari ni baru dapat bernafas dengan lega sikit...

"You Got To Move It, Move It!!"

Lynn e-mailed yesterday and said she got 2 tickets for the preview of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. I replied back and said to her, if she can get 2 more extra tickets, I might be interested!

Guess what? (nah, no need guessing..) She called me in the afternoon and told me she got another 3 extra tickets.. WOHOOO!

Well, well, what a wonderful family outing. My kids love the movie, with the parents included. It was WAY FUNNIER than the first Madagascar movie and we keep laughing till the end! I still cannot believe how time flies and by the time we finished watching it, I was shocked when I know it was nearing 11 p.m. already.

The penguins have more show time in this movie, and their presence makes the movie more enjoyable! Even when the movie started, where we will find the trademark of Dreamworks (of a boy sitting on a moon while fishing) was vandalised by the penguin - Yaa, the penguins punched the trademark boy and took his fishing pole saying it's time for sushi.

The most quirky dialogue that I found amusing was when their plane was going to crash (they should go back to NY actually) and Alex, the lion confessed to Marty, the zebra, "I broke your iPod!"

The plane landed in Africa, and they find their nature over there. But they have trouble fitting while getting in touch with their heritage, but hey.. who says it was easy when you have been living in a zoo before this?

I find the old lady (who managed to capture Alex in the Grand Central station) was way annoying (yes, she made an appearance in this film)! But this is redeemable, considering the flock of penguins was given ample time in the movie. Ah, of course, the annoying King Julien also joined their misadventure in Africa (he was in the plane's business seat OK :P)

Anyhow, Alex found his parents (he was so CUTE when he was a baby lion). Melman, the giraffe confessed his undying love to Gloria, the hyppo (how weird is that, but I am not complaining). And Marty find himself was no different than the other zebras.

It was WAY MUCH BETTER than the first.

You Got To Move It, Move It!!
