Nota umrah: Ziarah luar Madinah

Tempat persinggahan pertama: Masjid Quba'.

Tirmizi no. 298. Ibnu Majah no. 1401) - See more at: http://www.rumahallah.com/2013/02/masjid-quba-sejarah-dan-keutamaannya.html#sthash.ieqRfmrn.dpuf
Diriwayatkan dari Sahl bin Hunaif Radhiyallahu anhu berkata, "Rasûlullâh Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bersabda:

Barangsiapa bersuci di rumahnya kemudian datang ke Masjid Quba', kemudian dia mendirikan shalat di sana, maka dia mendapatkan pahala umrah [HR. Ibnu Majah dan lainnya]. Kami mendirikan solat dua rakaat di sini.

Berhadapan Masjid Quba

Pemandangan Masjid Quba'
Kemudian, kami ke Jabal Uhud. Masih ingat kisah peperangan Uhud?

Berlatarkan ladang kurma Ajwa

Disinilah terserlahnya sifat dermawan Saidina Uthman r.a.

Big Bad Wolf 2015

Aini won a preview pass on 3rd December for the BBW sale!

Look at me smiling with joy. In book heaven, hahahah.

And that OH SO AMAZING piles of books. Untouched. Pristine. All according to its genres (yes, I am OCD like that!)

Because raising a bookworm is a tough job, since you have to bring them along to any book fair or book shop.

And hey, I won tickets to TEDxKL event! Yes, I am a big fan of the TED talks. And the speaker line ups are amazing. Kuddos to the organisers:

  • Anna Karina Jardin - visual artist from Phillipines
  • Kid Chan - photojournalist (5th from right)
  • Jason Leong - a doctor and comedian (7th from right)
  • Umapagan A. - radio presenter (8th from right)
  • Davina Goh - entertainer (6th from right)

And this one guy, he wanted to go to BBW sale, because he was disappointed I only bought 2 books for him. So, let's go!

Nota umrah: Merindui Masjid Nabawi

Saya merindui Masjid Nabawi.

(HR. Bukhari, no. 1196 dan Muslim, no. 1391)

Selepas Subuh sehingga sebelum Zohor
Selepas Zohor sehingga sebelum Asar
Selepas Isyak sehingga tengah malam.

Karpet hijau muda inilah kawasan Raudhah.

First umrah flight arrives in Madinah from Malaysia

Saudi gazette report
MADINAH — The first Umrah flight arrived at Prince Muhammad Bin Abdul Aziz International Airport in Madinah carrying a total of 489 pilgrims from Malaysia.

The Umrah season which started on the first day of Safar (Nov. 13) will continue up to Shawwal 15, 1437H (July 20, 2016). Flights carrying Umrah pilgrims from India and other countries have already started arriving in Jeddah.

The pilgrims were given a warm welcome by officials of the Haj Ministry and other departments involved in the Haj services.

“The use of modern technology is helping us provide Umrah pilgrims with fast and consummate services,” Haj Minister Bandar Al-Hajjar said.

He said e-services include the ministry’s e-portal which facilitates the procedures for obtaining Umrah visas and helped increase the number of Umrah pilgrims to six million last year.

“The system has also helped cut down the number of overstayers drastically,” he added.

The minister made it clear that Saudi diplomatic missions abroad do not levy any charges for Umarh and Haj visas.

“The Haj and Umrah visas are given free of charge to pilgrims. The Kingdom is spending billions of rivals every year to make Haj and Umrah an easy and enjoyable trip,” Hajjar said.

He said pilgrims are being served by 41 companies which have about 3,500 foreign agents in 81 countries.

The Kingdom is planning to triple the number of visas it issues for Umrah.

Hajjar announced in October that as many as 1.25 million pilgrims are expected to arrive each month. This compares with 400,000 a month previously.

The new system would allow full use of massive expansion projects at the holy sites. A multi-billion-dollar expansion at the Grand Mosque in Makkah began four years ago.

Buat anak-anakku...

Ibu doakan moga kalian dikurniakan syurga.

Alhamdulillah. Cukup sudah A itu, nak. Ibu bangga denganmu.

Sorry that I abandoned you this month.

The clear blue sky

After months of haze in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, I miss the clear blue sky. For the past few years, this haze has become a permanent thing like an annual event. And it has become much worst last week, that schools were closed. I was even down with fever.

Alhamdulillah, by Allah's grace, the weather has become much better for the past few days. We went to Fraser's Hill last weekend to escape from the city and the haze.

The trip was organised between our usrah friends. It was just a trip to rejuvenate us.

I haven't been to the place for ages. The kids has never been to Fraser's Hill. I love the weather and the clear blue sky.

The kids enjoyed playing bubbles, archery, trekking and playing at the playground non stop (since we gathered there for our check points and activities).

Indeed, a short break for the family.

Staycation in KL

Decided for a city breakaway during Raya Haji last month.Checked in somewhere near KLCC, actually.

We booked a 3-room apartment. And I would say it was really excellent! We got a city view, every room has its own bathroom and television.

The swimming pool is perfect for my family, and there is an elevated garden on 6th floor.

Right in the heart of KL

Family outing

Enjoying the musical fountain. And I was in Kinokuniya!!

The kids.
We had a one night stay. Definitely will come back!

Even though the price per night is a bit on the high side, but it was better staying in a hotel with limited beds (I have 5 kids, hahaha). And the breakfast spread is fanta-bulous!

Joining the boat (adult colouring book)

Since I started colouring Fateh's book a few weeks back, I decided to buy a colouring book from our local  illustrator, the creative kak Emila Yusof. I have been following her blog for years, and I find her illustrations are neat and cute (the iconic Dina).

She has published 5 books under OyezBookStore for adult colouring, and I decided to buy one entitled Nature Sings. Aptly named, the colouring book is about nature. There are 12 pages of illustrations (and the bonus part is, you can even colour the cover).

I started colouring with my kid's colour pencils. A few days later, I bought Staedtler colour pencils. I am really satisfied with the outcome as below.

Red flowers with yellow background. Since I decided to buy Staedtler Luna (which can be water coloured), I tried using the water colour function for the yellow background.

Got a copy with kak Emila's autograph. Amni asked me whether I colour the cheeks and the nose. No, dear.

I find this one interesting, because of the illustration details.

I coloured the sea bubbles later. I am OCD like that.
I find this book is worth your money, because:
  • You can colour the cover (which I mentioned earlier)
  • You support our local artist
  • The paper is really thick, I used other medium as well, such as magic colour and artliner pens. There is no colour bleeding incident.
  • The illustration is per page and there is no other illustration behind each page, which is actually a plus point, if you inclined to frame your art after you finished with it.
And I love that Staedtler Luna colour. The colour payoff is really brilliant. For an amateur like me, the 36 pencil colours is already enough to satisfy my colouring hobby (as of now).

Have a long break everyone!

.. and Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha!

We are celebrating in my hometown (yes, I was born in KL). And will have a stay-cation later, somewhere in KL. Tehee..

This boy

This boy is already 1 year and 9 months old, as of today.

He is still lactating with me (gasp) even though we decided to do early feeding with formula milks during his early days (for medical reasons). And now, he starts not to like feeding through bottle when I am around at home.

So, he is a partially breastfeed baby. And I am proud of it.

I know that some mommies would have different opinions, but I do find this one article on partial breastfeeding interesting. And I did write about it earlier when I was breastfeeding Fateh (Let's talk about partial breastfeeding).

I find that even with 5 babies (with my 2 eldest being formula fed), breastfeeding is still a struggling and daunting journey. Each baby has its own preference. I find that Fahri was really a fussy baby, and I fully breastfeed him till 2 years old. I think that is one of the best decision because we found out later when he was 1 year, that he has severe eczema (and it might worsen if he was on formula milk). He didn't want to sleep in the baby cot, and he will lactate all night non stop. It become much worse when he was growing up, that I think I woke up every hour just to feed him.

Fateh was an easy baby. I find myself getting the much awaited sleep at most nights. I remember that once he gets his fair share of milk, he would sleep through the night.

As for Faiq, well, he become fussy and dominant growing up now. But the reason might be because he has three brothers and one sister to cuddle and play with him. He will cry and get angry when I feeds him in the morning and suddenly he has to switch to bottle feeding.

Oh well, pats on my back because of the long journey on breastfeeding. I was able to learn about the tricks on breastfeeding when I had my third child. So do not put a blame on yourself when you have to formula feed your baby. There is no wrong thing in doing that.

Cheers to all mommies out there! You are doing your best. And somehow, the above cartoon reminds me of my youngest right now :)

Destressing myself

Since Amni is sitting for her UPSR today, after I make do with my solat sunat and doa, I find myself cannot sit still. I am nervous for Amni.

I know she has prepared well for her exams. Yes, this is her first major exam. There will be many more to come in future years. We revised together yesterday, and she read through some examples for Karangan. Deep in my heart, I know she is nervous, but she is not having any panic attack. Alhamdulillah

Still, she is now in her school exam hall writing and answering the questions.

And me, back at home.. I coloured a picture from Fateh's colouring book.

After nearly 30 minutes colouring a character, I find that the Pelikan pencil colours give a brilliant colour pay off compared to the standard Staedler pencil colours. I find some reviews that people also mentioned Faber Castell pencil colours is also worth the money.

Presenting my artwork! I just make do with the colours that Faiq owned, which I found leftovers stashed in a box full of books. Thus, no light blue colours since I have found none. I would love to colour with pink, somehow.

Let see if I can do some colouring tomorrow and the day after. One picture per day for UPSR.

UPSR attack!

So, as a paranoid mom, I have been busy because my eldest is going to take her exam next week.

I think I have even memorised the set of questions and answers to mark Amni's paper.

Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.

What a beautiful verse. What a simple and meaningful verse. Soothing to the soul.

I want to share a story last Friday.

My aunt's friend managed to find and engaged with me in a meeting. She was so excited to meet me. She told me she even come and stay at our house when she came for her scholarship interview. Obviously, I cannot remember this because I was in primary school. The age gap between my aunt and myself is 8 years. I cannot remember her, but she was really keen to find Aini and me, that she even asked me to snap a picture with her. And to her excitement, she shared the picture with my aunt.

I received a wonderful news last week about my work. People appreciated what I did, and it is indeed an achievement for me. Last 2 years, I was really really down. And that affects my work, a lot. Alhamdulillah, I met with my current boss (who is actually my superior more than 10 years ago), and she offered me to transfer to her division.

So, back to the story of meeting my aunt's friend, this wonderful person, who is kind hearted, just got to know that I am an accountant. And she did ask why I am in a division not doing Finance matters. After I joined the current team, I got some unexpected offers from the management, who are concerned about me not utilising my ACCA membership. I feel honoured to receive the offers, nevertheless, I feel indebted to my current supervisor.

During my ACCA journey, I found that I love to do business analysis and data analytic. That is when I decided that I should do something that I love, rather than being tied to do Operational Finance / Accounting matters. I have been doing operational accounting for more than 8 years, thus being a Business Accountant is like a dream come true for me.

I realised that after such a long working journey, even though my promotion come quite late, I would rather do something I love rather than being promoted but not enjoying my work.

Alhamdulillah for the blessing. Indeed, it is true that when the hardship is gone, then you will be at ease.

Updates after a long break

Alhamdulillah di atas nikmatMu, ya Allah.

The small things matters. I have been too busy with my office work, that I sometimes forget that my eldest, Amni will be sitting for her first major examination in her life: Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah. With just a few weeks to go, the preparation has been intensive. From the start of Standard 6, her school has been conducting extra classes during the weekends. We have only been able to take a break during the Aidilfitri.

We have enrolled Fawwaz for tuition classes. At least a start for him. Let see how things goes.

Fahri has been consistently doing well in school. And Fateh has been improving after we enrolled him in the extra agama classes in the kindergarten.

That's Fateh and his best friend, Syafiq. He has been talking non stop about his best friend, and I noticed that he enjoyed his moments with this little guy. Went for his sport day last Saturday, with Amni at school involved in the Kem Pecutan program.

Went to Julie's house - she will be going for her Hajj on Thursday. We were able to reconnect with other long lost university friends. Imagine seeing some of our friends, after the university years.

I think Hajj story is better reserved for another post, I suppose. Talking about Hajj, we had a surreal experience. We went for our Hajj at the age of 26.

This set of friends

This set of friends have been through thick and thin with me.

We got to know each other during our university days. And even though some of us decided to study in Malacca, and the other half went to Cyberjaya (during the campus restructuring), we still remain close friends till now.

One of our friends, Faezah (or, we fondly calls Paie), quitted MMU, and changed to another public university - due to financial costs.

After university, we reconnect with each other, and it was heartening to be with them. Most of us are still with our same usrah circle, which is quite a feat, since we have left our studying days for more than 10 years. So of course, even though, this is a small gathering, it is something more to us.

We used to go to the town after we finished our semester exam, because we got too stress out. We went there by a bus.

And we went to visit historical sites in Malacca - yes, there was a picture of us in a museum, snapping a picture under a public sign "No camera is allowed." I do think that people would think us weird, hiking the hills with our baju kurungs.

This set of friends. So many cherished memories.

#lensamuslimchallenge #raya

Day 1: Celebration

Selamat hari raya. Aidilfitri is about celebration of the good against evil. The innocence of a child and their excitement of the awaited Muslim festival.
Day 2: Glutonny

Apart from the traditional dishes like lemang and ketupat, let us not forget that kuih raya is a necessity to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri nowadays.

Arrays of cookies being served to the guests always managed to put a smile on everyone who taste it. Sweet and with many new versions being introduced, kuih Arab and pineapple tart is always an instant classic hit.

Day 3: Bliss

Bliss is when you know you are going to balik kampung. And those chillies are waiting for you in front of your kampung house. The feeling is mutual between the chillies and myself.

Day 4: Consistent

Consistent is having your family around you. Day in day out, you know that your family will always be there for you, supporting you and nourishing your soul.

Consistent is when a child will always do their activites, be in their own world - when it was just fixing a bike, it is not only about fixing, but more towards knowing what to do when a bike is broken. That is consistent.

Day 5: Gathering

Aidilfitri is an occasion for family to gather and be connected.

Day 6: Forgiveness

Forgiveness. Such a simple word. Thanks husband for always being there for me during our marriage journey. Thanks for keeping up with me. Thanks for giving me the chance to think about silly mistakes.

And thanks for holding my hands just for this picture (which is really a once in a blue moon occasion) 13 years and newly married. Let us be forgiving not only during Raya, but on daily basis.

Day 7: Pride

My family = my pride. Hari Raya is always about family. Stop and reflect the bonds that are tied by blood. Alhamdulillah...
