Melaka for Raya Haji

Went back to Melaka for Raya Haji celebration.

Father in law bought this durian Segamat the size of 2 medium durians.  He is really an expert when selecting the best fruits. Oh wow!

Jalan-jalan along Sungai Melaka.

And I got Pikachu for my PokemonGo! Still a novice somehow...
And the kids found a Pikachu maskot, yeahh!

I hope it is not too late..

..to wish everyone Selamat Hari Raya. Maaf zahir dan batin.

May we continue to magnify our good deeds after Ramadhan.

This year, our Raya was celebrated in Kelantan. And our Faiq refused to wear his baju melayu. Hence, there was a decent picture of our family, but with Faiq wearing t-shirts and shorts.

Here is the evidence *sigh*

#lensamuslimchallenge #raya

Day 1: Celebration

Selamat hari raya. Aidilfitri is about celebration of the good against evil. The innocence of a child and their excitement of the awaited Muslim festival.
Day 2: Glutonny

Apart from the traditional dishes like lemang and ketupat, let us not forget that kuih raya is a necessity to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri nowadays.

Arrays of cookies being served to the guests always managed to put a smile on everyone who taste it. Sweet and with many new versions being introduced, kuih Arab and pineapple tart is always an instant classic hit.

Day 3: Bliss

Bliss is when you know you are going to balik kampung. And those chillies are waiting for you in front of your kampung house. The feeling is mutual between the chillies and myself.

Day 4: Consistent

Consistent is having your family around you. Day in day out, you know that your family will always be there for you, supporting you and nourishing your soul.

Consistent is when a child will always do their activites, be in their own world - when it was just fixing a bike, it is not only about fixing, but more towards knowing what to do when a bike is broken. That is consistent.

Day 5: Gathering

Aidilfitri is an occasion for family to gather and be connected.

Day 6: Forgiveness

Forgiveness. Such a simple word. Thanks husband for always being there for me during our marriage journey. Thanks for keeping up with me. Thanks for giving me the chance to think about silly mistakes.

And thanks for holding my hands just for this picture (which is really a once in a blue moon occasion) 13 years and newly married. Let us be forgiving not only during Raya, but on daily basis.

Day 7: Pride

My family = my pride. Hari Raya is always about family. Stop and reflect the bonds that are tied by blood. Alhamdulillah...

Syawal 2014

Akhirnya, balik beraya di Kelantan! Yey...

Sebelum balik beraya, Faiq demam sekejap-sekejap selama 20 hari. Dibawa jumpa pakar kanak-kanak, alhamdulillah, Faiq sihat.

Inilah dia aksi Faiq dalam baju Melayu.

Adik ambilkan gambar. Pertama kali nampak rupaku tidak bulat. Hahahaha...
Oh gambar beramai-ramai dalam kamera ayahku.

Tahu tak anak jantan sibuk kira duit raya hari-hari. Yang tak tahan, Fateh menangis bila ibunya simpankan duit raya. Aduh, nak, jangan jadi mata duitan. Jadilah akauntan macam ibu.

Raya kedua, Selasa, rumah nenek tiada air.

Seorang tiada, arwah kak Leila.

Official family picture.

Pergi lepak kat Coffee Bean malam Raya pertama. Bukan senang nak jumpa semua.

Sibuk berbasikal selepas habis ambil gambar Raya.

Dia pulangkan balik.

"Ibu, tak ada duit raya. Ibu ambil baliklah."

Oh, kecil-kecil sudah materialistik anak terunaku *_*

My Raya memory went off like this

I got bruises after a massaging session with this one old makcik last Friday. She used her elbow to expel the winds behind my back.

Decided to try massaging or 'berurut' (massaging to expel the winds from one's body after child birth) after my two aunts went there for their massaging session last Wednesday and Thursday.

During the session, I was praying that it will not hurt, but when she went for my neck to expel the winds (I had terrible headache), I think that I went bonkers there. It really hurts!

"Aduh, sakit Mak Mah. Sakit."
"Ko-o la sikik." (Tahanlah sikit).

And till today, my body still aches.

And my husband said," This is not berurut. This is torture." *_*

The drama behind the photo shoot

"Jom buat photo shoot kat studio." That's me saying to my husband last Ramadhan.
And my husband thinks that the photo shoot was like the standard ones, with different scenery backgrounds.

"Oh tidak... Tapi semua pakai baju raya ye."

Outdoor photo shoot in mind? No. With 4 kids, that is impossible. I want something unique and looks stylish (cum modern), thus I found this website: Serindit Photo

Arrangement was quick with the principal photographer. I even had to adjust the date, and he willingly accommodate my request. The studio was located in Setapak and we were there on time for our 10 a.m. slot.

Our first picture, was of course with the kids.. since thinking they are still not restless and quite in awe with the flash lights.. hehehe

At the start of the photo shoot, everyone is well behaved.

I had to give an Ultraman toy to the little guy, since we were actually between shoots of the two of us. The studio has all sorts of toys to ensure the kids are well entertained, that at one point, I remarked, "Macam taska".

The free style pose, we looked stoic in our pictures. The photographer said, "Kaku jer," that I started laughing big time. That breaks the ice, and everyone become themselves.

See, the photographer had to give a candy to ensure Fateh was sitting inside the red box

We were trying to look lovey dovey, but most of our pictures (that is between me & hubby) consist of the sudden appearance of this cheeky boy.. *Sigh*

Freestyle pose paling bergaya dari kami. I love the fact that Fahri was giving his all in this pose. Yes, he is cheeky & naughty. This picture shows his personality perfectly.

With my girl. She is the only one who can pose nicely.

The restless bunch. The photographer was thinking to shoot the picture of my boys, but Fateh started crying & Fahri was running around. Only Fawwaz was still intact in place.

"Ada aku kesah?" Buat jelah stail apa-apa Fawwaz oi
Ha, ni nak kena.. Bila dah hujung-hujung, semua gambar dia interframe. Duh

The photographer & his assistant were nice. They have experience in handling the kids. At one point of time, we took picture with Fateh only, and he slowly calls the kids one by one to be inside the set. Thus everyone sits nicely in the end and we got a few pictures of one big happy family (even though we had to run around chasing the 2 youngest).

Our session lasted for 1-hour, and we were so satisfied with the end product :)

Eid ul Fitri 2011

Our Eid ul Fitri does not consist of any mishap at all.

And I mean no kids with chicken pox (2007 incident), no kids with high fever (2008 incident) and no torn baju Melayu in sights just for the sake of chasing a dead snake (2009 incident). Do not ask me why in the first place my sons were chasing that dead snake. I found them with their baju Melayus already torn in places that I was so thankful their baju Melayu has not shown any signs of tear this year.

As for 2010, we celebrate our Eid ul Fitri, far away from Malaysia, in Manchester with more than 12 hours fasting.

Our first Eid in Malaysia, we celebrate it in Kelantan, at my father's hometown, with only us. Most of my cousins and aunts/uncles came later after the Eid prayer. The main dish served was nasi dagang. There are no ketupat and lemang as Eid delicacies (which is quite common in Melaka & Johor). My aunt brought ketupat palas (sweet tasting ketupat) and ketupat kacang.

Thus, for our Hari Raya holidays, we tasted many variations of rice: nasi tomato, nasi minyak, nasi hujan panas. Satay was served, even bread with tasty kuzi ayam. We even had roti jala at one point and beehoon soup the next, that my diet was flying out of the window in seconds.

As for pictures, thanks to my father's fantabulous camera, we got clear snapshots of everything, including Fahri ~_~
